Recently, We Love Soaps (http://www.welovesoaps.net) posted their listing of the 50 Greatest Soap Actresses of All Time. As a soap viewer of over 30 years - I have watched at one time or another most every soap within that time frame. I agree with many (most) of their inclusions, but I often disagree with the order of their rankings. So during many of those late nights when I couldn't sleep, I came up with my own list. (I have a list of men too... so keep watching!)

Here's part 2 --

31. Kristin Alfonso -- Kristin is best known for her role as Hope Brady on Days of our Lives, a role she has portrayed on and off since 1983. Along with Peter Reckell's Bo - the couple are considered a "super couple" in the history of soaps.

32. Ilene Kristen -- Ilene has played many wonderfully complex characters throughout her career -- starting with Delia Reid on Ryan's Hope. She's currently Roxy on One Life to Live.

33. Victoria Wyndham -- Victoria will always be known as the wonderful Rachel Cory on Another World working opposite Douglass Watson's Mac.

34. Mary Kay Adams -- Nasty through and through - Mary Kay shined in the role of India von Halkein on Guiding Light.

35. Louise Sorel -- Louise has portrayed many memorable roles. She's currently Vivian Alamain on Days of Lives, but she will go done in history as Augusta Lockridge on Santa Barbara.

36. Suzanne Rogers -- A Days of our Lives staple since 1973 - Suzanne's portrayal of Maggie Horton has seen it's ups and downs - and now she assumes the role of matriarch.

37. Ruth Warrick -- Ruth portrayed Phoebe Tyler on All My Children from 1970 until her death in 2005. Phoebe and Langley were classic comedy, drama, and emotion all rolled into one.

38. Julia Barr -- Best known for her character Brooke English on All My Children, she also has been on One Life to Live and Ryan's Hope.

39. Andrea Evans -- Ahhh … Tina Lord … One Life To Live's conniving, schemer, wickedly wonderful bad girl. Andrea will always be known for this complex character.

40. Jess Walton -- The fabulous Jess Walton currently portrays Jill Abbott on Young and Restless, but she was also on Capitol as Kelly Harper.

So I will begin to count them down for you here. Today we will start with those listed 50 - 41 on my list.

41. Charita Bauer - Most noted for her roll of Bert Bauer on Guiding Light from 1950 - 1985, Charita was the glue that held Guiding Light together for many years.

42. Linda Dano - Linda Dana has been all over the soap landscape, but it's hard to forget her wonderful portrayal of Felicia Gallant on Another World.

43. Louise Shaffer - Louise Shaffer portrayed Rae Woodard on Ryan's Hope. (She was on many other soaps as well - and also worked as a soap writer.)

44. Brenda Benet - Brenda Benet played the scheming Lee Dumond on Days of our Lives. Sadly, Brenda had many personal demons, and committed suicide in 1982.

45. Tina Sloan - Tina's soap career goes back to her days on Somerset in the 1970's, but she is best remembered for her wonderful portrayal of Lillian Raines on Guiding Light, which she played from 1983 until the show's cancellation in 2009.

46. Maree Cheatham - Maree is one of those actresses who career has spanned many soaps. My favorite roles include Marie Horton on Days of our Lives, wacky Charlene Simpson on General Hospital, and the sassy Stephanie Wilkins on Search for Tomorrow.

47. Sherry Mathis - The late Sherry Mathis may be best known for her long-standing broadway career, but to me she will always be Lisa Sentel on Search for Tomorrow.

48. Judith Chapman - Many may argue with me on listing Judith Chapman so low on the list, as she has had a long successful career on daytime - where she currently plays Gloria Fisher on Young and Restless, but as an actress she never really captured that spirit of character for me personally.

49. Melody Thomas Scott - Melody has played the role of Nikki Newman on Young and Restless since 1979. Sadly, she is often under-utilized on Y&R.

50. Lauren Koslow - Lauren Koslow has appeared on many soaps, but currently plays the wonderfully wicked Kate Roberts on Days of our Lives.

Guiding Light Tribute

Now this is the tribute that the Daytime Emmys should've showed. Instead- they showed an edited version of this, and then literally "cut-off" the cast during the broadcast. Sad.

I compiled a list of General Hospital cast on Twitter (past and present) as everyone keeps asking about who's who. I'm sure I forgot someone along the way - so I'd appreciate any help filling in the blanks.

July 31st, 2009

On Thursday evening, July 30, we took a drive up to Venice, CA, to Equator Books, for an evening on sustainability in South America.

Green Living Project is a production/marketing company that documents sustainability programs worldwide. This event was the South America Kick-off event, premiering the new presentations from the team's trip to Brazil, Peru and Ecuador. Some of the sponsors of the event were National Geographic Adventure, REI, Timberland, Gregory and Keen Footwear. Rob Holmes is the founder (and I believe President as well) of GLP. He narrated the evening, along with Sebastian Roche (Jerry Jacks, GH) who was the evening's host. Sebastian is the celebrity spokesman for GLP.

The event showed seven multi-media presentations on the GLP crew's travels across South America, capturing the projects within each country that are promoting sustainability. Sebastian was included on the leg of the tour that went to Ecuador.
